Question:

Need advice on rack and hitch for 2019 Buick Encore. Bike is xl frame Specialized Roll model with 2 1/2” tires, upright bars. 90 of time will be single bike. Def want trunk access. Never had hitch before, no other towing. Can hitch be self installed, or has to go to dealer?

For a trailer hitch, I'd recommend the Curt Class I hitch, part # C11527. Many of our customers do indeed install their own hitches, I've linked you to the install instructions and an install video. You can take a look at those and likely get a good idea if the install is something you'd be comfortable doing yourself. If not, any trusted mechanic should be able to complete the install for you pretty quickly in around an hour.

The Thule # TH92BJ Doubletrack Pro XT is a nice bike rack, we sell a ton of them but I personally prefer the Kuat Transfer, part # KU74FR. Due to its unique U-shaped design, it's much easier to load the innermost bike, and the lever for tilting the rack is much easier to access. Aesthetically speaking, the Transfer is better and more modern looking, in my opinion.
