Distance From Top Of Platform With Arm Folded Down to Hitch Pin On Swagman XTC-2

Question:
I see the XTC-2 can fold the center arm flat. What is the height from the center of the hitch/mounting to the tallest part of the rack when there are no bikes on it and it is folded flat? I am looking for a tilting bike rack for a 2008 Honda Element with a clamshell tailgate. I would like to be able to open the top part of the tailgate with the bikes on the rack thus, the tilting. I would also like to be able to open both the upper and lower parts of the tailgate when there are no bikes on the rack and with the center arm folded down. From my rough measurements, it looks like the center of our hitch to the bottom of the open tailgate is 7 inches. If this product will not work can you recommend another? Our bikes have fenders and we would prefer a platform rack but are open to hanging racks as well. Thanks! I appreciate your help.

In regards to the Swagman XTC-2 TILT 2-Bike Platform Rack part # S64671, the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the top of the platform with the arm folded down is around 10" according to Swagman. The majority of bike racks we offer you'll run into the same issue with the tail gate which is why you'll want to go with a swing-away rack like the RockyMounts BackStage 2 Bike Platform Rack part # RKY10002.
I know this is likely more than you are willing to spend but it's one of the only options that is going to allow for full hatch access with the rack installed.
