The RockyMounts BackStage fits most bikes regardless of frame design, suspension, or brake style

The RockyMounts BackStage platform-style rack lets you carry 2 bikes using your vehicle's hitch. The bike trays swing-away with bikes loaded, providing maximum access to your vehicle's cargo area. The ratcheting arms and wheel cradles secure your bikes by the wheels so there's no frame contact. Pivoting rear-wheel cradles accommodate bikes of different lengths, and they're designed to hold fat bike tires up to 5" wide. Front-mounted lever allows the rack to easily tilt down with bikes loaded and fold up when not in use. Finally, the rack includes a hitch lock and cable lock to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle.

Swing-Away Design for Full Access to Rear Cargo Area

Swing-away design allows you to access your rear cargo area without removing bikes from the RockyMounts BackStage bike rack

The BackStage features a hinged arm that lets you swing the rack away from the rear of your vehicle with your bikes still loaded. The rack extends 67" away from the hitch, providing maximum access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. This eliminates the need to unload the bikes or remove the rack when you're loading or unloading cargo or letting your dogs hop in or out of the back.

The RockyMounts BackStage bike rack features two pull release knobs that let you fully extend the carrier

To open the hinged arm, simply turn the T-handle until it's loose, pull the spring-loaded pin, and swing the rack away from the rear of the vehicle. The arm will lock into place once it's fully extended so your hands are free to open your hatch and remove cargo.

The RockyMounts BackStage bike rack features two pull release knobs that let you fully extend the carrier

To close the rack, pull the inner spring pin and swing the bike trays back into position. The spring pin will click when the rack is fully closed. Finally, tighten the T-handle to completely secure the rack.

Front-Mounted Lever for Easy Tilting

>Fold the RockyMounts Backstage bike carrier up for additional rear cargo storage

The front-mounted easy release lever allows a single person to both tilt the rack down and fold it up with ease. The rack tilts down 30 degrees with or without bikes loaded for convenient access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. This is great for cramped parking lots where you might not have room to swing the rack out, or when you're in a hurry and don't have time to go through the process of extending and retracting the swing arm.

The T-handle on the RockyMounts BackStage bike carrier allows it to move into the closed position

The lever also lets you fold the rack up for storage when you're not transporting a bike. This is great for parking in places where space is limited such as a parking garage.

Ratcheting Wheel Hooks for Easy Bike Loading

The RockyMounts BackStage bike carrier has ratcheting hooks on pivoting upright arms hold bikes securely by the front wheels with no frame contact

The rack allows you to quickly and easily load and carry 2 bicycles on the back of your vehicle. The ratcheting arms securely hold your bikes by the front wheels so there's no frame contact. Simply push the button on the hook and slide it firmly into place over your front wheel. Each wheel hook is coated for grip and work with tire diameters up to 29".

Pivoting Rear Wheel Cradles with Ratcheting Wheel Straps

The RockyMounts BackStage bike carrier features deep, pivoting wheel cradles that slide up to 3" side-to-side to optimize bike spacing

The pivoting rear-wheel cradles allow the rack to accommodate bikes with wheelbases up to 48" long. The cradles include ratcheting, rubber straps to hold your bikes' rear wheels securely in place on the tray.

The RockyMounts BackStage bike carrier features deep wheel cradles and extra-long wheel straps accommodate fat bike tires up to 5" wide

The BackStage also comes with wheel strap extensions that attach to the standard ratcheting straps to increase the usable length and secure wider tires. This allows the cradles to hold fat bike tires up to 5" wide.

Adjustable Bike Trays

The front and back bike trays adjust 3" side to side to insure you have enough space when loading your bikes

The front and back bike trays adjust 3" side to side to ensure you have enough space when loading your bikes. Just loosen the 4 bolts where the tray attaches to the bottom of the rack, slide the trays left or right to achieve the desired spacing, and then tighten the bolts. This will prevent your bikes' handlebars from becoming tangled, and it eliminates the fear of bike-to-bike contact during transport.

Easy Installation with Threaded Hitch Pin

The RockyMounts BackStage bike carriers hitch lock deters theft

The rack installs quickly and easily with a threaded, anti-rattle hitch pin. Simply slide the shank into your 2" hitch receiver, insert the threaded hitch pin, and tighten it down with the included tool. This will reduce noise and movement while the rack is installed.

Complete Security

The RockyMounts BackStage bike carrier features a cable lock that deters theft of the actual bike platform and also the hitch itself

The BackStage comes with a hitch lock and a cable lock to deter theft of both the rack and your bikes.

Fold the RockyMounts BackStage bike carrier features a novel cable lock system

The cable lock wraps around your bikes' frames and secures to the rack with the included lock core. The cable and hitch lock are keyed alike, so you'll only need 1 key for both locks.

Video Transcript for RockyMounts Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we're going to be test fitting the RockyMounts BackStage 2 Bike Platform Rack. This is going to be part number RKY10002.This is a pretty unique bike rack because it has a couple interesting features to it. Much like the other platform style racks out there, this can tilt away from the vehicle with both bikes attached. To do that, they have this handle up at the front here, it's colored blue, you pull that towards you and let the bike rack tilt down like so. And unfortunately, with the wrangler since the door opens out like so, we are going to make contact if we try to do that. But another thing that makes this unique is, that it has the ability to swing out from the vehicle as well with both bikes attached for situations like this. To do that you come to the blue handle here at the base, you turn it to the left to loosen it up.

You want to loosen this up all the way. Then you come to the inside here where there's a blue handle, you're going to pull that up as well and that'll release it and you bring it out until it's about 90 degrees or so, and you bring this in until you hear it click and then you can open it up the rest of the way.Now it's completely out of the way, so we can get to our rear hatch, or door. And even with it fully open, it's not going to make contact with the bike at all. You see there's plenty of space here. And to put it back into place, you just reverse that process. You come to the center here, we're going to see this blue tab, lift up on that, that'll release it.

Bring it back to 90 degrees, pull up on that tab, then just push it in the rest of the way. Come back to this handle here, and tighten it up.All right. Now some of the other features about this bike rack is one, it does come with this bike lock cable here that wraps around the existing frame of your bike, or if you have both bikes it'll wrap around both frames, and come back to this point here where it locks into place. This lock here is keyed alike with the hitch lock, which we'll get to in a minute.Let's go ahead and remove that. And it does come with a set of two keys as well. Now the bike is held into place, we're going to have two points of contact.

We're going to have the rear wheel strap here, and this cradle does move back and forth as needed to accommodate bikes of different sizes. It also comes with an additional strap for when you want to use a fat bike, and this can accommodate fat bikes up to 5 inches wide.Right now we have the road bike installment, but this will also work with mountain bikes, alternate frame bikes, and kids bikes. A lot of that, thanks to the wheel mount up at the front here. That eliminates the need for any bike adaptor bars, especially for your kids bikes or your alternate frame bikes. So let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. We'll start with the rear wheel strap, where it has this blue tab here you push that in, that'll release it.

Then come up to the front here, we have this blue trigger at the wheel hook, push that in, and away, and we'll lift the bike up and off. When everything's finished, it folds up nice and neat like so. With it in this position, I'd like to give you a couple quick measurements. Measuring from the edge of the bumper to our outer most point, we've added about 37 inches to the rear of the vehicle. Our ground clearance is going to be about 26 inches. And the closest point would be our tire here, it's going to be about 6 inches to this edge and about 5 inches to this edge. Now with it folded flat we can also push this up against the vehicle for close quarters situations such as parking. Again we come to this handle here, pull out and instead push up until you hear that click. Again measuring from the edge of the bumper to our outer most point, now we've only added about 22 inches to the rear of the vehicle, and our ground clearance is about 17.Now even with it folded up, it will not make contact with our tire here and a lot of that's due to the hitch that's actually installed on the vehicle, and that's going to be the drop type hitch, which sticks out a little bit further than most to give you that extra clearance. How this is attached to the hitch, we're going to have an anti-rattle bolt, which once tightened down will take off the shake and play in the shank. And again, we have this lock, which is keyed alike, with our cable lock mount as well. This does only work with 2 inch hitches, and there you have it for the RockyMounts BackStage 2 Bike Platform Rack on our 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.

I really like this bike rack. It was easy to assemble out of the box and didn't take too much time to put together. it's my first platform bike rack, and it is super easy to load my mountain bike on it. The ability of this rack to swing out to the right allows me access to my trunk. I have an SUV whose rear trunk door opens from left to right and most bike racks don't allow me access to my trunk because of how my door opens. The rack is very sturdy, and is easy to use. It comes with a cable lock that isn't the greatest so you will have to use an additional lock or cable for better security. If you have a rear door that opens left to right and you have a need to access your trunk, this is the right product for you. I am very happy with it. 435745

I am a 65 years old and will say I was a little intimidated by the weight the box that the rack came in. It comes in parts to assemble so after opening the box I realize I could get this together. The instructions were clear but photos of the process would have been easier for me to follow. I have a truck with a tall camper shell that has a custom built insert in the bed for camping. I decided on this rack because it looked easy to load the bikes on and it will swing out of the way when I need to access the camper. It took me about 2 hours to assemble. It was not that it was a lot to assemble but the drawings took me time to understand. Got it put together and tested the movement range of the rack and it clears the back of my 2017 Tundra with 4" to spare. The bikes were easy to load and secure. I took it for a test ride and the bikes did not shift position. The rack flex slightly but overall it rode very smooth. This looks like a winner. During assembly I thought I have not gotten a couple of small screws that I needed but after opening all the nuts and bolts packages everything was there. The two photos I took may be helpful. I wish I had not been so focused and taken more while assembling the rack. 421154

Have been on several long trips on gravel roads with the rack. The rack makes it easy to load and remove the bike. The access to the back of the truck is very convenient. My road clearance is great. I have had one issue of my own creation. I misjudged the distance to my back wall in my carport and rammed the handle into the stucco wall and cracking the blue plastic handle. The wall got the worst of it. Will eventual contact Rocky Mounts and replace it. It took the hit pretty well and still works. Im not in a rush to replace. A sturdy product.

Just installed my Rocky mounts backstage 2 bike platform. Wanted to wait until I actually used it to write a review.... This bike rack is everything that was promised by etrailer. I really do like it! Easy to put together from the instructions, and very easy to install on my 2015 Tacoma. Fits perfectly. Its very easy to load the bikes on the rack and they are held very securely. We went on a long trip with this rack and there were no problems. I love the swing gate, which made it so easy to get luggage out of the back. The whole rack is very solid. Nice that the pin for the hitch screws down to keep the rack from any wiggle. The only suggestion is that it definately needs a stronger lock to keep secure rack and bikes. Took a little longer to ship, due to UPS losing it for a while, but aside from those minor issues, This bike rack is fantastic!! Well worth the money. 616189

I ordered this on May 31st and finally got it on August 11th. We have two eBikes and the load capacity and tilt and swing functions made this rack the best one for our Rav 4 with spare tire on back. RockytMounts had to go into another production cycle before I could get it. But, totally worth the wait. eTrailer honored the original price on my original order and so I saved $155 on the $540 full price. The rack construction seems very strong while I was mounting it to my Rav 4. The mounting locks did seem a bit "cheesy" though, as they are made of plastic. But, of course, one never leaves bikes for very long where "evil" lurks! I haven't yet put the bikes on the rack but, if there are problems, I will update this review. 419774

This rack has been so good for the transportation of our two eBikes. Its a heavy load but this rack handles it with ease. We live on the coast, Pacifica, where corrosion is a constant issue. This solid rack has not a bit of rust on it. So this rack is still 5 stars!!

This is a good looking rack. Works well on the back of my 2014 CRV. I can fold back the rack with my bikes on it and there is enough room to step behind it to load groceries, bags, etc. If you need full access, you can swing the bikes away, but I don't I'll need to do that as much as I thought. It is heavy, not at all a problem in use, but will make it difficult to remove and reinstall if you don't have the arm strength. The box arrived pretty torn up, but not a scratch on anything inside. Loading bikes is a snap. Tighten the arm over the front wheel, one tire strap for the rear. The locks for the hitch pin and locking cable don't look like they'd survive a hit with a hammer, unfortunately. I had a problem with the handle bars of my wife's shorter bike hitting my seat, We were able to raise my wife's handle bars enough to clear. If not, I don't know what we would have done. (I wasn't going to lower my seat!) There's very little adjustment, a couple inches left or right, and you can't turn the handle bar in the wheel support. I'd make sure the handle bars of each bike is higher than the other bike's seat, or look elsewhere. 489118

We travel full time in our motor home, so the rack stays on the car. It still looks good, and it is very easy to load and unload the bikes.

This rack works great for my FJ Cruiser, pretty much the only option if you still need access to the rear hatch. Also Molly at etrailier was great and really took care of me. Thanks! 477593

Best bike rack ever! We received our bike rack in record time, earlier than scheduled, and in time for our trip! Love the fact that not only does it hold the bike down on the wheel and not my frame, but it drops down AND swings away for full access to our 2018 Mercedes Sprinter with the barn doors. The doors can swing all the way open and hold in place as designed, so we have a complete view out the back of our van without any obstruction whatsoever. This thing is solid, and it does not budge, we know because we watched it through our camera as we drove down the road. A great investment if you have bikes you want to protect from any damage or theft, as there is also a lock and cable that goes through the bike and also locks the rack to the hitch. Fantastic customer service from etrailer as well! 512490

Thank you for your follow up. We love the RockyMounts Hitch Bike Rack and have shown it to and recommend it to many friends while traveling. We have it on our 2018 Pleasureway Plateau TS Mercedes 3500 Van base and it’s wonderful since it swings completely to the side with the bikes still on the rack, and both of our back doors swing open for emergency exit if needed. It’s well built, sturdy, easy to use, and as we travel, I look back and the bikes hardly move at all. So we are very, very happy with it. Thank you for having such a terrific product!

Amazing customer service by the Etrailer team! There was a long back-order delay (from manufacturer) in getting this rack but Nikki kept me informed and up to date regularly, and Shannon provided a seamless checkout process once the rack arrived. 2 Days later it was on the back of my car. This rack is definitely worth the wait and I'm very happy with it. The swing away function provides easy and unobstructed access to the hatch, which makes it so much easier for my dog to jump in & out, or loading larger items when the bike is on the rack. No more squeezing between a tilted down rack and the back of the car. Very intuitive design and sturdy fitment. The bikes fit easily and quickly. The quick release handle allows you to tip it down, or fold it up to the back of the car effortlessly. 420160

Fairly easy install. And now that we have tested it out on a few trips we can honestly say we really like this product. The platform style keeps the bikes from touching/damaging each other. The design is solid and simple to use. Easy to load and unload. The only downside is the lock is a deterant but not bombproof so we will probably add our own locks when needed. Other then that great product, great service from etrailer as always. Highly recomend this rockymount hitch. 573004

Unfortunately, if the thief is determined enough, they will take your property regardless of the lock used. Providing a deterrent will prevent most thefts, by encouraging the thief to go after an easier target.

We were looking for a platform swing away bike rack. I was a little worried it would be heavy to get on the Edge. Not a problem! You have to expect some weight to be a good sturdy rack. Instructions are very good! ???????? 737613

ordered this off etrailer and it arrived within 3 business days, which was impressive considering we live in fairly rural MT. Immediately took it on a weeklong 1000+ mile road trip where we camped out of the back of out 2002 Toyota Tundra. It was so nice not having to take the bikes off the back to climb in and out and cook on the tailgate. Was additionally nice that they remained safely locked while we were sleeping. The tilt feature made it easy to open our topper and quickly grab things out of the back without having to open the bike rack and swing it all the way out. Additionally, we were able to drop the tailgate all the way down with the bikes on the rack just using the tilt feature. Liked that the whole assembly was one unit (no adapter for the swing away) that had both the tilt and swing away options. Drove down plenty of dirt roads and interstates, and the rack seemed stable through it all. Would definitely reccomend this product. Side note: if you have a newer pickup with a taller tailgate I'm not sure if the tailgate would be able to drop all the way with the rack just tilted and not swung away. However, the swing function was so easy to use, I would still recommend! 703479

Seems well made and has many functions. Just what I needed for my truck camper. It allows me to access my camper without unloading bikes. I can also use it on my SUV. It did not take long to put together. 690641

After one year, this bike rack was worth the money. It's sturdy, easy to take on and off, and the bikes sit solidly on it when traveling. Very easy to lay down when you need to get in the back of the car. As an added bonus, you can lay the rack down and use it to haul trash up to the top of the driveway on garbage day! Would recommend. 676637

Got the rack to fit on our Hymer Aktiv (Ram Promaster 3500) camper van. It arrived on date promised. Directions for assembling seemed a little vague but I was able to get it put together and on to our camper. Worked great and makes getting into the back of the van much easier with the swing out arm. Due to our spare tire rack on back and low level of the hitch on the back of our van, I am using a hitch extended to add 4 inches out and up. So far so good. 647328

I purchased the dual, maneuverable bike carrier to carry 2 Rad Rover Electric bicycles. Additionally, at that time I had a RoadTrek 210 Versatile. This motor home had an entrance at the rear. The rack allowed me to leave the bikes on the carrier and completely swing it out For access without taking the bikes off. This was great and really saved time over every other carrier I found. As I mentioned, the bikes are Rad Rovers and are heavy, about 60# (120+) without the batteries. I drove across country and to Key West with the bikes loaded and had no problems. The strength and integrity of the metal and welds has not been affected by the vibration and weight over the past year of use. Once I load up and hit the road I have complete confidence in the carrier integrity. The purchase process was super..delivery was quick and installation flawless. Anytime I need some help with my RV, trailer, suspension or general good things to have...I check Etrailer first, you can’t go wrong in merchandise or customer satisfaction. 637101

We have used our bike rack several times in the past year (mainly in the summer months) and it has worked out very well. The primary purpose is to transport our bikes when we are camping with our pick up camper. It works well because we can swing it out of the way with our without the bikes to access our camper. Plus it is easy to load and unload the bikes. The only small negative is it is a little heavy for one person -- it works best if 2 people are handling it. Other than that, we love it! 612540

Great rack. Has everything I was looking for. I really like how I can swing it away so the hatch of the SUV can open. I've also had this on the back of my travel trailer bouncing along with two bikes and it seems solid. I had no issues with it back there as I drove about 700 miles. It's nice that I can have it on the camper and and then when we get to a site put it on the back of the truck to go where we need. Only complaint I have would be that it is very heavy. So it can be a pain to take off and on. But it's built great and has worked well. I've had it for over a year with no issues. 599869

I have a truck camper and this bike rack was perfect application for us. We did 8400 miles last summer with two electric bikes on the rack without any issues. The rack is top quality and super functional. I purchased through etrailer a hitch extension, and torque lift steps , which work perfect together. 599855

  • Bike Rack Needed to Clear Rear Doors of a 2016 Ram ProMaster
I spoke with my contact at Swagman who said that when the center mast on the Swagman XTC-2 # S64670 is folded down it measures about 10-1/2". This is from the bottom of the shank that goes into the receiver on your 2016 Ram ProMaster and was taken with the 2" adapter on. So if you have a 2" receiver just measure 10-1/2" from the bottom of your receiver opening but if you have a 1-1/4" receiver you will need to subtract about 3/4" which means you will measure 9-3/4" from the bottom of your...

  • Recommended Bike Rack With Tilt or Swing for Truck Bed Camper Rear Door Access
For your 2014 GMC Sierra with in-bed camper, I recommend the Curt Extender for 2" Receivers -18" Long # C45796. This will get your trailer hitch out far enough so you can add your bike rack. Using an adapter like this will reduce your trailer hitch receiver's tongue weight rating by 50% which should leave you in fine condition for a 2 bike rack. For your 2 bike rack, I recommend the RockyMounts BackStage 2 Bike Platform Rack - 2" - Tilting - Swinging # RKY10002. This rack will securely...

  • Will RockyMounts BackStage Bike Rack Clear Spare on 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited w/Draw-Tite Hitch
I do not know how far out the OEM receiver is on the 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited but I can tell you what it is with Draw-Tite hitch # 76104 and it is most likely further out than the OEM hitch. When we installed the hitch on a 2016 Wrangler Unlimited with stock tires it measured 5-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the rear edge of the spare tire. The RockyMounts swinging bike rack # RKY10002 will clear the spare tire though it is possible that the closest bike's pedals...

  • Using the Tailgate of a Truck With a Platform Bike Rack Installed
It will depend a little bit on the design of the individual truck, however the tilt-away feature of the Thule T2 Classic bike rack, part # TH9044 gives it quite a bit of range away from most vehicles. I've included a video of our demo team installing the T2 Classic onto a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado and opening the tailgate to show the approximate fit to that vehicle. This is demonstrated around the 0:25 second mark of the video. You can add locks to the T2 Classic with part # TH450200,...

  • RockyMounts Hitch Bike Rack that Fits 2019 Infiniti QX50 and Allow Rear Cargo Area Access
I have a great RockyMounts platform bike rack that will fit your 2019 Infiniti QX50 and allow full cargo area access with bikes loaded but most likely the # RKY10004 would not give you full access. So instead I recommend the version of this rack that has the swing out function to give you complete access with bikes loaded. We had the chance to test fit this on a very similar Nissan Murano (same platform and your QX50) and we found that it fit without any impingement! Check out the review...

The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 part # HR1450E, Thule T2 Pro XTB part # TH9034XT, and the RockyMounts BackStage 2 Bike Platform Rack part # RKY10002 are all top of the line bike racks from their respective manufacturers. The best one for you will depend on what type of bike you have. For example, if you have an alternate frame (step-through)bike then you are going to want to consider a wheel mount bike rack like the BackStage or the T2 Pro XTB because they hold the bikes by the...

  • Will the Thule Apex Bike Rack Work With The Yakima BackSwing
We have not physically tested the Thule Apex Bike Rack with the Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender part # Y02483 so I cannot confirm an exact fit but I do not see any apparent issue in doing so. However, the Yakima BackSwing will reduce your trailer hitch's weight capacity by 50% so you will need to keep this in mind while loading your bikes. If the weight of your bikes and bike rack exceeds 50% of the trailer hitch's tongue weight capacity then you may be interested in the...

  • Bike Rack Recommendation for 2013 Jeep Wrangler JK 2 Door
One of the unique challenges of being a Jeep owner and wanting to carry bikes is having the ability to open the back gate of the Jeep with bikes mounted-especially with a hard top; for this reason I recommend going with a swing-away hitch mounted rack. My favorite rack in this class is the RockyMounts BackStage 2 Bike Platform Rack # RKY10002 . This rack gives you the option of tilting it away from the rear of your Jeep, as well as fully swinging the carrier away from the rear so that...

From the center of the hitch pin hole to the top of that small vertical post at the end of the shank on the RockyMounts BackStage # RKY10002 there is a distance of 4-3/8 inches. I have attached an image to assist. You can use this measurement to ensure the tailgate on your Tacoma will drop all the way down with the rack attached and the platform swung away to the side. I have included a short video demonstration on this carrier that you can check out as well.

  • Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack that Allows Rear Hatch to Open on a 2004 Chevy Tahoe
I do have some great options that will work with your 2004 Chevy Tahoe but based on my calculations and some information gathered from similar racks it is possible that you will not be able to open the rear hatch on your Tahoe with the RockyMounts MonoRail # RKY10004 tilted. What I recommend is a swing-away rack such as the RockyMounts BackStage 2 # RKY10002. With this style bike rack you can swing the bikes off to the side of the vehicle which will allow you to open the rear hatch....

To find out if the Thule T2 Pro XTS # TH9034XTS will fit on your 2004 Honda CR-V with a spare tire you will need to measure from the center of you hitch pin hole to the edge of your bumper. If this measurement is less than 7 inches then the T2 Pro XTS will fit. Since you have the swinging rear door instead of the one that lifts up you will not have full access to your rear cargo area with this bike rack installed. You might be able to partially open your rear door. What I recommend...

The first thing you will need to do is click the provided link that will show you how to measure to determine how much clearance you have between the hitch pin hole in your receiver and the furthest rearward part of the vehicle, whether it be the back bumper or the rear of the spare tire (if your Land Cruiser is equipped with the rear mounted spare). Instead you can use the RockyMounts SplitRail # RKY11404-4 with the Yakima BackSwing # Y02483. The SplitRail weighs 76 lbs and can hold up to 4 bikes that weigh a max of 40 lbs. • Fitting an RV With a Trailer Hitch Mounted Bike Rack
Generally speaking, RV rated racks are built to withstand the increased travel that the rack experiences when riding behind the RV. The distance from the axle to the hitch receiver is much greater than it is behind a car, causing far more bouncing and swaying when the rack is in use. Additionally, the suspension on most RV's is normally not enough to significantly reduce this travel, causing manufacturers to make racks that are significantly heftier than their passenger vehicle counterparts....

  • Bike Rack for Electric Bikes on a Fifth Wheel Trailer and 2016 Ram 3500
You'll almost always be looking at heavier racks when you are working with electric bikes, purely becuase of the electric bike's weight. Additionally, you'll have heavier racks because you need to pick one that is recommended for use behind a trailer. This is because of the increased force that the rack experiences due to the movement of the trailer, and lighter duty racks can be shaken apart by these forces. Instead, I recommend the Swagman Escapee 2 Bike Rack, part # S64693 and...

I do have an option for you but I am not aware of any bike rack that will fold down far enough in order for you to swing open the rear hatch on your 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Instead, you will want to look into a bike rack with a swing away feature. The swing away feature will allow you to open the rear hatch on your Jeep without having to remove the bike rack or bikes. The RockyMounts BackStage # RKY10002 is a great rack that sounds like it would well for you. Except that it is a pretty heavy rack at around 70 pounds. Unfortunately, swinging racks are generally heavier, as our platform racks. When you combine it into a swinging platform rack it's likely going to be pretty heavy. Since the BackStage has that extra arm which allows it to swing away the fit might be a bit tight. We actually went out and tried installing the bag on the BackStage. The RockyMounts BackStage, part # RKY10002 swings open to be 49 inches from the shank to the closest part of the rack. This should allow the doors of your ProMaster Van to open, but not to the full distance they normally do. 2017 Ram ProMaster doors swing open to 260-degrees, and you won't be able to get to that full distance with the RockyMounts swung out. You'll probably get closer to 90 to 120-degrees open, which is still plenty to load and unload cargo.

The tilting ability on the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE 4-Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount Item # HR1400Z could allow you to fully open the rear hatch on your 2017 Subaru Outback. A lot depends on the width of the nearest bike. Another factor is the length of the rack. It will not be easy...

  • Bike Racks For a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica That Doesnt Impact Lift Gate Hatch Use
