I see you have found out what the length and width dimensions are, how about the diameter of the u-bolt? Will it fit thru a 3/8inch chain link?

The Replacement Safety-Chain U-Bolt Kit, # C113, has u-bolts that are 9/16 inches in diameter, too large to fit through a 3/8 inch opening in a chain link.

U-bolts # 382144UB have a 3/8 inch diameter.
