Parts Needed for Installation of Onan Generator QG 7000i

Updated 04/20/2026 | Published 04/14/2026

Question:

I am going to purchase an Onan QG 7000i for a new install. I noticed there are a list of other parts that need to be ordered for installation. Can I get a list of parts need for the install. I am not sure what comes with the generator and what is needed. I am installing the generator in a new 2026 Brinkley Z3210 fifthwheel. Brinkley says it will fit. I cant supply any pictures yet, I have not received the trailer yet.

Hey Lauris! Is the Brinkley prepped for a generator or are you saying it has room for one? If it doesn't have some kind of generator prep you're going to need a lot of parts from Cummins to install # CM44MR. You will have to add a fuel tank, exhaust kit, and their fuel kit on top of everything else.

If you have generator prep you will need to pick up various clamps, straps, and battery cable locally. You will also need to get the controls from Cummins, possibly still the exhaust kit, and then a transfer switch like # PM79FR. One way or another you're going to have to talk to Cummins and acquire some of the parts directly through them, so I would start there.

As an alternative, you could use a portable generator like the Onan 9,500-Watt Dual Fuel Portable Generator - Gas or Propane - Remote Start # CM38MR. It won't be as clean as adding the other to a compartment, but it removes the need for a lot of those additional parts and will save you quite a bit of money.
