Question:
I have a 2020 Subaru Outback wagon. I'd like to tow a small pop up that's equipped with electric brakes, which we plan on using a lot this summer. I already have the hitch and 4 pin trailer wiring, what else do I need? Is the Echo any good?

To actuate the brakes on your pop-up, you'll want to install a brake controller. The Echo # C51180 would be an excellent choice, as you won't need to do any drilling into the underside of the dash of your new car. It's very easy to install and use.
You'll also need the # ETBC7L install kit as well which includes an adapter to convert your existing 4 pole trailer connector to a 7-way. The adapter plugs into your 7-way, and you'll need to ground one wire to the car frame, and run a wire to the battery through a circuit breaker. The kit includes all the wire and hardware necessary to successfully complete the installation. The Echo will plug right into the 7-way, and the connector from the trailer plugs directly into the Echo. You'll use your iOS (v8.0+) or Android (v4.4+) based smartphone as the control unit inside the vehicle.
If you click the provided link, you can see a product description video that explains how the controller works.
