Question:
Can the camera see the gooseneck ball on a short bed over top of a toolbox on an 18 F250? The example picture appears to be a long bed.

The answer to your question will depend on how tall the toolbox sits over the top of the bed and how far back into the bed the toolbox goes. The easiest thing to do would be to take a length of string, tape it to the underside of the 3rd taillight lens and run the other end to the top of the gooseneck ball, or to a point about 3 inches above the truck bed centered over the center of the rear axle. If the string doesn't hit the toolbox, you'll be able to see the gooseneck ball when hitching up.
If you find the toolbox blocks the camera view, many folks will mount a mirror like # CM02000 at the top of the gooseneck coupler, pointing downward which will allow you to see the gooseneck ball.
I've linked to an installation video that you might find helpful.
