Can Curt Adjustable Clevis and Pintle Hook Combo # C45008 be Used without Lower Section

Question:
Can you use the 2 5/16inch ball without putting together the whole assembly? Can I tow a 6000lb trailer without the 2inch ball pin / assembly underneath the 2 5/16inch ball mount? Thanks for reply

The lower ball mount portion of the Curt Adjustable Clevis and Pintle Hook Combo with 2" and 2-5/16" Balls # C45008 does not have to be installed when using the upper ball. It does not provide structure to the setup so you could leave it off if you wanted.
