Question:
When I have my travel trailer hooked up I can’t my tailgate. It hits the power jack. Would it work to get a longer WD shank? I’m using an E2 WD hitch. Thanks

Hello William, thanks for reaching out. Yes, a longer shank can help your situation. This will move the trailer farther from the truck and create more space between the jack and the tailgate.
Most weight distribution shanks are 8" long or 9-1/2" long when measured from the hitch pin hole to the center of the height adjustment holes.
We offer an extended shank, the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4500 which is 14" long hole-to-hole. I suggest you measure your current shank to verify the additional 6 or so inches will allow the tailgate to drop all the way.
Also keep in mind the extended shank # EQ90-02-4500 is rated for up to 1,400 lbs of tongue weight.

Hey William, did the longer Equal-i-zer shank give you enough clearance to lower your tailgate without hitting the power jack? Knowing how that worked out could help others dealing with the same tight fit.
