Can I use bolts instead of using the pins on the Ball mount adapter Item # BA-1?

According to Convert-A-Ball, although they recommend using the # CABPN-2 3/4 inch pins to secure the # BA-1 it is perfectly acceptable to use 3/4 inch Grade 8 bolts instead of the pins. The only downside is that changing the ball height would be more difficult.
