Does the Andersen Ultimate Connection 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Attach To Gooseneck Ball or Rails

Question:

I have read all of the reviews and I have two questions: #1. In all the pictures attached to the reviews, I do not see a goose neck hitch in the bed of the trucks. Can your hitch be installed so the ball can remain in the bed so you can remove the Anderson and then just hook up to a standard goose neck neck trailer? #2. On the installation of the rails to the bed, do they use the existing holes in the truck bed to frame to mount the rails? When I order do I need to describe the truck that the hitch will be installed in? I have an 80 Gallon additional fuel tank in the bed along with a standard tool box that sits in front of the fuel tank. I have plunty of room for my standard goose neck trailers flat bed and Stock trailer will you Anderson still give me the room to maneuver like the flat bed and stock trailer. Currently I a pulling a Sundowner 37foot horse trailer w/L/Q and I have plenty of room for turning. The 5th wheel trailer we are looking at has the schulpered front.

I do have an option for you but the Andersen Ultimate Connection 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch System part # AM3200 attaches to above bed base rails, not a gooseneck hitch ball though there are other that do. The Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter part # DM8550045 is what I recommend and it attaches to a gooseneck hitch ball, not above bed base rails.

In order to install a set of above bed base rails for the Andersen Ultimate Connection 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch System you would need to remove the gooseneck hitch which does not sound like an option therefore, the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter is a much better choice for you. The Demco Recon does weigh a little more than the Andersen Ultimate but it can be broken down into two pieces, the head which is about 40 lbs and the base which is about 100 lbs and this is still manageable for one person. I understand the less weight you have to lift out of the truck bed may seem better but a connection point between the truck and trailer is also not exactly something you want to be super light either so the Demco Recon is a good compromise.

I have attached a photo of the base for the Demco Recon that way you can make sure it does not come into contact with your fuel tank/toolbox though it should not.
