Trailer Hitch for 2016 Elantra GT Manufactured in South Korea

Question:

I have a followup question I confirmed that I do have a Korean built car - the sticker on door jamb has KMHD... So, a few questions: 1 Will the Cur C11400 fit my car? Or is it also designed for non-Korean 2016 GT 2 What other choices for hitches for the Korean models? Thanks a lot,

I have a solution for you, but the Curt # C11400 is not going to be a confirmed fit for your 2016 Hyundai Elantra. Even though Hyundai is a South Korean car manufacturer, they do have plants in other countries. It appears that for whatever reason, the 2016 Elantra models that were produced within South Korea were not drilled with the holes that are required to mount trailer hitches on the frames of the vehicles. This is why it's proving so difficult to find a hitch that will work on your South Korean made Elantra GT, because nobody has been able to test fit them without the pre-drilled holes. So to answer your 2nd question, you would be able to use the Curt # C11400 or even the Draw-Tite # 24905 on your South Korean made Hyundai Elantra GT, but you would need to drill the holes in the frame yourself to allow you to mount the hitch.

If you do decide to go ahead and drill out the holes yourself, you may want a complete setup to tow a small trailer. For that you'll need a 4 way wiring harness like the Tekonsha # 118692 , as well as a ball mount like # 3593 and hitch ball # 19256 to allow you to tow a small utility trailer behind your Elantra GT.
