Does Trailer Hitch for 2018 Honda Clarity Void Vehicle Warranty
Published 09/13/2019 >
Question:
Honda says towing not recommended and no hitch available in the +190 page owner manual. I assume they would claim warranty void should the hitch be Installed or evidence of. Reasonably they could not honor near any drive, brake or electrical failure with light harness. What is your experience and what do your customers tell you?

When you install an aftermarket part on your vehicle like a trailer hitch in this case, you are protected by the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act. This act states, in part, that unless the installation and the part caused a problem then the warranty cannot be voided. I recommend looking it up online.
We do have the EcoHitch part # 306-X7377 as a confirmed fit for your 2018 Honda Clarity as well as the no-splice ZCI kit part # 119250KIT. We sell a TON of hitches for vehicles, some that are like yours that say you can't tow, and I can't think of a single example where someone came back and told us their vehicle warranty was voided solely by the install of a hitch or wiring kit.
