Question:

Wondering if I can get a quick release hitch pin for this vs needing to secure it with a nut every time i put it on the car. Would be awesome to have the option for quick on and off use.

Hey Neal! You can use the standard 5/8" Hitch Pin and Clip # e47RV for quicker installation and removal, or the Locking Hitch Pin # e98882 if you want to keep the carrier secured to the vehicle. Either way, you will lose the built-in anti-rattle from the threaded pin that comes with the # e98874.

To make up for that, I recommend adding the etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar # e38FV to keep the carrier from moving around in the receiver. The collar stays installed on the hitch, so you can loosen the knob, pull the hitch pin, and remove the carrier when you're not using it.

If you're still deciding on a carrier, I would take another look at the Benton MoveHitch # B86VR or # B38VR you were looking at. It is a much nicer carrier overall, and the push-button system makes it significantly easier to use. I have a few different cargo carriers and I really can't overstate how nice it is to have that button to tilt and fold.

Robin, is right. The threaded hit hitch pin with the nut and washer does keep it more stable and keeps it from rattling around, but once you put weight on it, it shouldn’t rattle. I agree with you, having a “quick release” pin would be more convenient, I have to keep a ratchet wrench and socket in my car at all times, but it’s worth it. I wish the trailer platform was offset with a 2” rise up. I sometimes bottom out going over the driveway lip. I like that it folds up.

I like the cargo tray for price point and it serves us to get some items out of the tow vehicle like the black water tote with sewer hoses, etc. After a year of service, there is rust on it, and there are camp site that are low, so having to keep an eye on the tray when backing in as it does ride low. Yep, be nice to have a quick release, but haven't had the need yet.
