Can the Benton HotMesh Cargo Net Stretch Over Large Camping Gear?

Question:
I'm looking at picking up the Benton MoveHitch aluminum carrier for our upcoming family road trip because at only 45 lbs, it looks like something I can actually install by myself without throwing out my back. Also, I'm planning to bundle it with the HotMesh cargo net, but we travel with some pretty tall camping gear. Will that net safely stretch over cargo that's about a foot high without crushing it? I've used cheap bungee nets in the past that turned into a giant, tangled ball of knots the second I threw them in the trunk, so I'm hoping those 12 integrated straps make it easier to secure everything down tight without the usual headache

Terry, you've picked out a really nice combination for a family road trip. The Benton MoveHitch part # B86VR is lightweight at just 45 pounds, so it's much easier to install than many steel cargo carriers.
The Benton HotMesh Cargo Net part # B32FR is a great match for this carrier and should work well with the gear you described. It's designed to secure cargo up to 30 inches tall, so your foot tall camping gear is right within its intended range. Because the net spreads the load across the mesh instead of relying on a handful of bungee cords, it does a much better job of holding things securely without putting excessive pressure on plastic totes or other bulky items.
One of my favorite things about the HotMesh is the integrated straps. Instead of wrestling with a pile of tangled bungees every time you unpack, the 12 built-in straps are always attached and easy to position. We even tested it by securing a large plastic trash can in the carrier, and the straps held it securely without any trouble. It really does make loading and unloading much less of a hassle.
If your cargo ends up blocking your vehicle's tail lights, you can add the etrailer LED Light Kit part # e67RV. It mounts to the back of the carrier and provides brake lights, turn signals, and running lights, helping you stay more visible whether you're driving in traffic, through rain, or arriving at the campground after dark.
I've also attached a really helpful video from our demo expert, Evangeline. She's spent a lot of time using this carrier and walks through its features, loading tips, and the tilt function in real-world situations. I think you'll find it helpful as you decide if it's the right fit for your family trip.
Where are you headed on this family road trip, and what kind of gear are you planning to carry on the carrier?
