Does the Steering Wheel On a 2019 Ford Escape Need To Be Unlocked While Using a Tow Dolly

Question:
I want to tow using a dolly and Ford says that is OK without restriction. I need to unlock the steering wheel. This is a keyless ignition, how do I unlock? THANKS

Expert Reply:
If you are dolly towing a vehicle then the steering wheel actually needs to be locked whereas if you were flat-towing a vehicle the steering wheel needs to be unlocked. That said, I do not have any write-ups on how to do this. Generally speaking, you will depress the brake pedal then push the start/stop button while simultaneously turning the steering wheel left and right but if this does not work then you will just need to reach out to Ford.
