How To Find the Backing On a Forest River R-Pod To Attach Extension Bracket of Solera Awning
Updated 09/10/2019 | Published 09/08/2019 >
Question:
When I installed the bracket the screws did not hit a solid interior member in the slide out. They spun and did not tighten. I followed the instructions in your video for an R-Pod for placement of the brackets, as that is the trailer that I have. As a consequence, the screws have now pulled out. Should I use a molly bolt to install the bracket?

I do not recommend using a molly bolt to attach the extension rod brackets on a Solera RV Slide-Out Awning like part # LCV000165063. The bottom line is that you need to find the backing and attach the extension rod bracket to this as there would not be enough support without doing this. It can be difficult to find the backing so your best option at this point would be to reach out to Forest River and ask if they can provide a drawing with it's location. This would eliminate having to drill holes only to find out it did not hit the backing but you can also press on the exterior wall as it would be firmer where the backing is.
