Can the Thule Xsporter Pro Ladder Rack be Used for a Rooftop Tent and People Weighing 500 lbs Total

Question:

Looking at the load capcacity of this rack, it is rated at 450lb, is that per rack or is that evenly distributed between the 2 racks? I ask, as Im considering it for a rooftop tent, at 150lb + 2 persons roughly 350lb = 500lbs.

You can definitely use the Thule Xsporter Pro Adjustable Height Truck Bed Ladder Rack # TH500XT to transport and use your rooftop tent on your 2019 GMC Canyon. I reached out to my contact at Thule who confirmed that your estimated 500 lbs of weight will be safe to use with the Xsporter Pro.

The 450 lb weight capacity is for when you are in motion and is called the dynamic weight capacity. Since you will be sitting still while the rooftop tent is in use the ladder rack can handle a little more weight (also known as static weight).
