Does Hitch Extension Cut Towing Capacity or Just Tongue Weight Capacity

Question:

your info states using 13inch extension with platform will cut towing weight 50. Please explain, does this affect ones towing capacity or tongue weight? OR ? thinking on buying this to increase distance to help load boat in lake.

The hitch extensions like the Buyers Products Hitch Adapters # 3371804015 technically cut the tongue weight capacity by 50 percent but since you won't find yourself able to tow a trailer at the hitch's normal capacity but at 50 percent of just the tongue weight capacity it effectively cuts all of the towing capacity then.

As long as your trailer is under 50 percent of your hitch capacity this would work find to help load boat trailer.
