Parts Needed to Tow a Trailer with a 2017 Ford Edge Without Tow Package

Hello etrailer experts- I have a 2017 Ford Edge 2.0L Ecoboost engine. I do not have the factory installed package - and despite reaching out directly to Ford, all they can tell me about the tow package is that it includes a hitch, 4 pin wiring harness and anti-sway control. According to the local Ford dealership, they can install a Ford hitch and 7 pin wiring harness for me, but what they cant tell me because it seems they dont know is whether thats all I need to raise my max tow limit from 1500-2000lbs to 3500lbs? The trailer I want to pull is around GW 2700lbs full loaded, so this is important to know. Does that factory tow package also include things like a strengthened frame or additional transmission cooling that is not possible to add after sale, even by a Ford dealership? Thanks!

The only thing I was able to find out is that you need the Class II tow package installed on your 2017 Ford Edge 2.0L Ecoboost to achieve the 3,500 lb towing capacity. I tried researching what this tow package includes but it seems like Ford just wants to hide the contents. We do have equipment that you can use for towing with your Ford Edge but I unfortunately can't guarantee that it will safely increase the towing capacity of your vehicle.
I recommend using the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75234 because it provides a clean look with the hidden crosstube plus it fits any model of the 2017 Edge. Then for wiring I recommend the T-One # 118669 for an SE/SEL or the T-One # 118677 for a Sport/Titanium. To add a 7-Way and a brake controller I recommend the Wiring Kit # ETBC7L and the Curt Echo # C51180 as the Echo is a wireless brake controller that has settings you control with the app for Apple and Android smart devices.
For a weight distribution (WD) system that uses integrated sway control I recommend the Equal-i-zer # EQ37060ET because it is a simple installation and it has a tongue weight (TW) range of 200 lbs - 600 lbs which is just right for your application. This comes with everything you need to but you will need to use a 1-7/8" thin-walled socket like part # EQ70-00-4800 to install the 2" hitch ball.
