can you recommend a hitch for a 2018 Ford edge sport, make sure it will fit the sport model. And then what’s the recommendation for a light converter package?

Hey Dan, welcome back! Yes, we do have a trailer hitch and wiring for the 2018 Ford Edge Sport. Here is what I recommend:

- etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e36RR

- Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56292

The # e36RR hitch will fit all models of the 2018 Edge and that includes the sport model. It has a 2" receiver, 675 lb tongue weight capacity and 4,500 lb towing rating. This will cover a solid amount of gear or even a small trailer.

As far as installation it will require you to fish fasteners thru the frame, and it comes with all the necessary fish wires and hardware. You'll also need to temporarily remove the bumper fascia, and heat shield, as well as lower the exhaust. Also keep in mind the receiver will partially block the hands-free liftgate sensor. It will still work, you'll just need to waive your foot on either side of the receiver to activate it.

thank you for your response. On the trailer light converter kit does it come with the 12 gauge wire to run up to the battery?

@DanH Yes it does! It comes with I believe 20 or 25 feet of 12-gauge wire to run to the battery. Its always a few feet more than you'll actually need.

My only caveat is that on my 3916 Edge SEL it hangs close to the ground and because the safety chain attachments are below the hitch they drag on some bumps and driveways. I would like them in the sides better. Other than that it works grea!

@Kathy Ah yea that makes sense. Having the safety chain loops on the side would be a good idea for this hitch. Not sure why they didn't design it that way. I have a hitch on my Camry that rides pretty low and I have to be careful on those bumps and steep inclines too, so I know what you mean. Just how it goes. Thanks for taking the time to share!
