Thank you for the info! I took a look at the online version of your owner's manual and saw that it is recommended to use a brake controller if your trailer weighs over 1,000 lbs and a weight distribution (WD) system if the trailer weighs over 2,000 lbs. I'm not sure how much your S-10 can tow but I will make recommendations as if you can tow in excess of 2,000 lbs. In addition to the hitch you need trailer wiring for the lights. I recommend the T-One # HM41115 because of how reliable it is. Then you also need the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 for the rest of the wiring to install a brake controller. If you don't already have a brake controller I highly recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite # 331-EBRH-ACCV2 because it has a proportional setting for when you are towing over typical surfaces as well as a user-control mode that was designed around towing in hilly terrain like you will be doing in the mountains. Then for a WD system I highly recommend the Equal-i-zer # EQ37060ET because it fits your tongue weight (TW) range, comes with a 2" hitch ball, utilizes integrated sway control, and doesn't permanently install on your trailer. The only other thing that you need is a 1-7/8" thin-walled socket like part # EQ70-00-4800 to install the hitch ball.
