Chain Adjustments on Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System
Updated 06/18/2019 | Published 06/15/2019 >
Question:
I bought a blue ox sway pro and tried installing it. I noticed that the max number of links from the end of the chain - opposite the u bolt I can safely place on the cams is 8, any more and it is very hard to lock into place. I have of course raised the hitch while attached to the vehicle prior to ease attachment of the bars prior to attaching chains. It notice in the instructions it should be 9 or 10 links?

Expert Reply:
If your truck and trailer look to be level when adjusting to the 8th chain link with the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System # BXW1500 then this isn't a problem. I recommend also taking the trailer out for a short test drive to see how everything handles with the current setup and if needed the chains can always be adjusted one way or another down the line.
I have attached a short video demonstration on this system that you can check out as well.
