Can Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution # BXW2003 Be Used With I-Beam Frames?

Updated 12/08/2025 | Published 11/14/2025

Question:

I’m looking at purchasing a 16k split tilt triumph equipment trailer. It has an ibeam frame. will the provided brackets work? Looks like they’re better suited to box tubing or c- channel. The trailer is fully galvanized so I don’t want to weld to it and I’d rather not drill holes through it

Hey Neil, thanks for reaching out. You are right the frame brackets for the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution # BXW2003 are really only intended to be used with boxed frames. The I-beam would present an issue. That being said, it is possible to use the WD hitch with an I-beam, but you'll need to have pieces of steel plate welded to the trailer frame to box it in to provide a secure mounting location for the frame brackets to mount 29" back from the center of the coupler ball.

Hey Neil, did you end up finding a good way to mount the SwayPro brackets on your galvanized I-beam trailer? Your experience could point others in the right direction who are working with a similar frame.
