Question:

Does this unit have freeze protection? Will it freeze up if not in use and outdoor temperatures are sub freezing?

The Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater part # FR68SR will work in an ambient temperature down to 32 degrees Fahrenheit. If you will be experiencing freezing temperatures long term then it is recommend to winterize the unit. If the temperature just drops to below freezing overnight though this would not damage the unit.

Furrion recommends winterizing the unit for long term storage over the winter by flushing the system with air (do not exceed 30psi) and then filling the unit with a non-toxic antifreeze solution to protect the unit and your pipes from freezing.

Once the system is flushed with air you can install the Camco RV Water Pump Winterization Kit - Permanent # CAM36543 upstream from your water pump which will allow you to direct fresh water or antifreeze through your pipes using your water pump for quick and easy winterization.
