Tow Bar Wiring Recommendation for 2014 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon

Published 06/12/2019

Question:

I have factory plug on the front of my jeep.. seven pin and a four pin round on the back of the 2001 rv Ford chassis the plug is after market, I had the dealership install the harness. I tried putting a 7 pin TV plug on the rv with no luck can not get it to work my lights. When I plug it into my 2014 truck with a 7 pin plug the lights work like they should. I need advice and help figuring this out we are heading out on Thursday. I can add pictures tomorrow I dont have any right now Ive been searching the web trying to find the answer. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you have the issue narrowed down to being the wiring you have installed on your 2014 Jeep Rubicon. It also sounds like the wiring you have on your Jeep might actually be trailer wiring and not tow bar wiring and since these two designs aren't interchangeable you would need to install tow bar wiring. I also mention this because you said it was factory wiring and the only factory wiring a Jeep would have came with is trailer wiring.

Best solution for that will be the part # RM-15267 which is a diode kit that installs on the vehicle taillight wiring and allows the tow vehicle to control them. This also comes with a coiled 7-way adapter that will plug into your RV and then plug into the included 4-way connector.

I attached an install video for this kit on a similar 2014 Wranger as yours for you to check out as well.
