Can the Curt T-Connector be Connected to 12V Outlet for Installation on a 2016 Volvo S60
Published 06/05/2019 >
Question:
The instructions say to hook the power cord 10A fuse to the battery. It would be far easier at least until I have the car on a lift for other work to hook the power cord to a 12V outlet 15A fuse - so there are plenty of amps available. Is there any reason that I shouldnt hook the power cord to the positive side of the power outlet?

The whole purpose of the black module box and running the power from the battery on your 2016 Volvo S60 for the Curt T-Connector # C56224 is to bypass the wiring on your vehicle so that your trailer won't overload your factory wiring and that if anything happens to your trailer wiring your vehicle wiring is protected. If you were to connect the black power wire to a 12V outlet on your S60 then there is a possibility that your vehicle wiring won't be protected.
We always recommend installing the wiring as outlined in the instructions. It isn't always the easiest but it is definitely much more safe to go this route especially since that is how this unit was tested.
