How To Install the Circuit Breakers From Brake Controller Installation Kit # ETBC7 on Ford Truck

Question:

what fuses are you mounting and hooking wires to the battery there are two that i can see one for brake controll and one for hot feed if iam correct one should be a twenty amp and other should be 40amp thank you 79 Ford truck and up install wiring under hood

The items you mention are the circuit breakers that will need to be installed inline to protect the circuits that the Brake Controller 7 and 4 Way Installation Kit, part # ETBC7, will connect to.

To install a 7-Way connector on your 1979 and newer Ford F-150, F-250, or F-350, for installation of a brake controller, you will need to use the # ETBC7 kit. This kit will have an adapter that will plug into an existing 4-Way connector on your truck and the remaining 4 wires will be hardwired to the vehicle.

If you need to install a 4-Way connector on your truck I would recommend the Draw-Tite Wiring Kit, part # 18252.

You will need to install a 40-amp circuit breaker for the 12 volt power, and a 20-amp or 30-amp circuit breaker depending on the brake controller you will be using. See the brake controller instructions on what size circuit breaker is required. These circuit breakers are included in the # ETBC7 kit.

The connections under the hood when installing the #ETBC7 kit will be the black wire in the duplex cable, included in the kit, will be connected to the positive post of the battery using the included inline 40-amp circuit breaker. This is the 12 volt power supply for the 7-Way at the rear of your vehicle.

The white wire in the included duplex cable will go back to the white ground wire on the brake controller inside the cab of the vehicle.

You will need to run a separate wire from the positive post of the battery through the inline 20-amp or 30-amp circuit breaker you have mounted earlier to the power wire of the brake controller in the vehicles cab.
