Will Roadmaster InvisiBrake Work When Towed Vehicle Engine is Off and Power Brakes are Not Active

Question:

Purchased and had installed invisibrake on a 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL unlimited and it seems to be working properly except for the power brakes. When the invisibrake is activated there are no power brakes as the engine on the tow is not running. It takes a tremendous amount of force to stop the tow that way. I could barely stop the vehicle with engine off with very strong force on the pedal . It seems the engine needs to be running to tow for the brake to function.

I took a look at the online owner's manual for your 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler Unlimited and it does say to turn your engine off before flat towing. This does make pressing down on the brake pedal much more difficult but supplemental braking systems like the Roadmaster InvisiBrake # RM-8700 are built to accommodate this. If you have tried flat towing your JL and you are experiencing problems then please let me know. However if you just sat in your Jeep with the engine off and tried applying the brakes then yes, it would be pretty difficult to stop quickly.

Please note that we do recommend installing the Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751000 with the InvisiBrake on your JL. I have attached a video of us installing the InvisiBrake on a 2018 JL Unlimited for you to reference as well as a review video for the stop light switch kit.
