Can Roadmaster Tow Bar Connect to Jeep Wrangler with Sunpie Bumper

Updated 04/10/2025 | Published 04/08/2025

Question:

I talked with sales but what is the best way to mount RM-501 on my 2008 Jeep Wrangler JK with a Sunpie Jeep Wrangler Front Bumper with Winch Plate for JK. The bumper is certainly capable since it includes a 12K lbs wrench. Problem is accessing the frame because of the skid plate. Here is a link to the bumper I am referencing, and I will post a picture of it and the tow bar in question. Would it be safe if I were to install the Tow Bar Quick Disconnect Brackets circled in the pix indirectly on the bumper frame via 2x2x3/8inch metal framing or is there a mount kit one can use or recommendations? Please call if possible and leave a call back number if you get VM. Thank you,

Hey Mauricio, I checked out your Sunpie front bumper and it has D-rings on the front of it that would be your best option for attaching a tow bar too. So for that you'd need the D-ring adapter part # RM-035-1 which would attach directly to them. You would need to use a tow bar that stores on the motorhome though like the Falcon 2 part # RM-520. The RM-501 would not work with this adapter.

Do you have a base plate that i can use to mount the RM 501 to a 2 x 2 x 36 inch beam? I have the means to fabricate the mount, but I prefer to buy it if it’s available. I can provide a pix but I don’t see an upload link? I could use the D rings but the keep has a lift kit and so it’s almost 2 feet higher than the receiver on the back of the RV my concern it’s too high to use a D rings. Plus the add cost I don’t need two tow bars when I already got one of the better ones on the market.

@Mauricio We don't have an adapter to mount a base plate kit to the beam you mentioned. To make up for the height difference you could use a high low adapter like the part # BX88132 and use a motorhome stored tow bar like I mentioned. There isn't a way to use the RM501 with your current bumper.
