The majority of standard hitch balls with a 1-7/8" diameter will have a 2,000-3,500 lb weight capacity. If you need a hitch ball with a 1-7/8" diameter that has a 5,000 lb weight capacity then you will need to use a pintle hitch ball. For this, we have part # C48810 which has a 1-1/4" diameter shank. You will need to measure the hole for the hitch ball on your ball mount in order to make sure this one will work for you.
The only difference between a standard hitch ball and a pintle hitch ball in regards to what you will be using it for is the portion of the shank that is threaded. As you can see from the attached photo, the entire shank on the hitch ball is not threaded like it would be on a standard hitch ball so you need to make sure your ball mount is at least 7/16" thick so the threads can engage.
We also have the Curt Fusion Ball Mount part # C45131 which is a fixed ball mount with a 1-7/8" ball mount that has a 5,000 lb weight capacity.
