I would like to purchase a DM72vr coupler but need a manual lockout is this possible?

Demco does not offer a manual lockout for the coupler part # DM72VR but they do offer an electric option with the part # DM5836. They also recommend installing free-backing brake assemblies on the axles instead too which I attached a link to a page that has all of them.

Is the free braking brake assembly necessary? Or can I just use the electric reverse brake lockout? I'm replacing an old surge brake assembly with drums

@George If you have an electric or manual lock out then you do not need to use free-backing plates. There's no reason you couldn't use them but they are redundant and not needed.
