Question:
I have a flat four plug that has six wires coming out of it. Two white, two brown, a green, and a yellow. I need to splice a new plug onto the current set up because a section of the wiring is frayed by the trailer tongue. What type of harness should I get and which wires do I need to connect to the new flat four plug? Thanks!

I recommend using one of the Hopkins Easy-Pull 4-Way Flat harnesses. These have a connector with a loop in the middle that makes disconnecting your trailer wiring from your tow vehicle much easier than a standard 4-Way Flat connector. The wiring is also labeled which helps with the installation.
This comes in a 12" version as part # HM48114 and a 48" version as part # HM38134. We also have the 12" part # HM48138 which has an integrated LED tester.
I recommend using 16 Gauge Butt Connectors # DW05744-5 and then combining the 2 white wires for the ground and the 2 brown wires for your running/tail lights.
