Unlocking Steering With Power Off on 2018 Wrangler JL Unlimited Rubicon for Flat Towing

Question:
I have the brand new Wrangler JL Unlimited. Rubicon. When I push the start button to put it into accessory mode so the steering wheel is loose, all the dash lights come on. There is no way to have the steering wheel loose and the dash lights off like my old JK. Is there a workaround? i.e. pulling the negative battery terminal? Thank you

There is a way to make your 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited Rubicon ready to be moved with the steering unlocked and the lights off. You need to follow a very specific procedure outlined in your owner's manual. There is a recreational towing section of your manual that in the online version starts on page 371 and goes thru page 374. I've attached the photos to assist, but recommend double-checking your physical manual.
