Roadmaster Flat Tow Wiring Harness - RO34FR

  • Diode Kit
  • Splices into Vehicle Wiring
  • Roadmaster
  • Universal Fit

These smart diodes ensure your RV's brake and turn signals display correctly on your car's multiplex incandescent tail lights. Prevents damage from electrical feedback. Includes 2 diodes.

Features:

  • Smart diodes correctly display RV's brake and turn signals on your towed car with variable voltage incandescent tail lights
    • Converts the 12V signal from your RV to a 9V signal so your tail lights work as intended
    • Prevents feedback that can damage your vehicle's electrical components
    • Keeps the battery from draining while flat towing
    • Resists corrosion with powder coated aluminum casing
  • Quantity: 2 diodes
  • Made in the USA
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Note: If you need a complete kit with wiring and installation supplies included, pick up RO94FR (sold separately) instead.

What are Variable Voltage Tail Lights?

A variable voltage tail light (also known as multiplex) uses the same wire for both the brake light and the tail light, sending a 12-volt signal to the brake light and a 9-volt signal to the tail light. This works fine when you're driving, but when you are flat towing, the RV will send a 12-volt signal to both the brake light and tail light, making them the same level of brightness and impossible to distinguish from each other. The drivers behind you won't be able to tell the difference between your tail lights and your brake lights, which is a huge safety issue.

These smart diodes solve that problem by simply converting the signal from the RV to the lower voltage needed for your car's tail lights. They install permanently, but don't worry; everything will work as normal when you're not flat towing.

What if I Have LED Tail Lights?

This kit is designed to work with incandescent lights only, so if you have LED variable voltage lights, you'll need kit RO54FR (sold separately) instead.

I'm going to start with your baseplate on your 2022 Chevrolet Equinox LT. The Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-523193-5 is a great choice and will fit correctly. With the standard P225/65R17 tires you will have a base plate height of 15-3/4". • Is Using The Hy-Power Roadmaster Diodes Better or Worse Than The Smart Diodes on 2021 Chevy Colorado
First the biggest difference is the cost of the Hy-Power Diodes # RM-794 being more price conscious than the Roadmaster Smart Diodes # RO34FR. The Hy-Power diodes will also allow you to tie into the 2 separate functions on the incandescent bulb where the smart diodes only have one output and regulates power going into the single function of the incandescent bulb. So if this filament inside the bulb were to fail neither light would work where as with the Hy-Power if the brake/turn filament...

  • Smart Diodes and Wire For Flat Towing Vehicle Behind Motorhome
We do indeed offer smart diodes in two models, if the vehicle has incandescent lamps, use # RO34FR or part # RO54FR for vehicles with LED lamps. All the 7 to 6-way umbilicals we offer like # RM-146 use 16 gauge wire, however the # RM-146 meets the rest of your parameters, it's manufactured in the USA and has metal plugs on the ends. Unfortunately we don't offer bonded 4 wire in 14 gauge, although we do offer it in 16 gauge as part # 16-4B-1, which is sold by the foot.

If you wanted to get them as a kit including the 4-pole wiring and 7-to-6 pin cable then you'd want part # RM26FR for Incandescent and part # RM38FR for LED's.
