Question:

I have a 2018 Wrangler JL Sahara Unlimited and need to set it up to tow behind my RV. Ive never towed before, so Im looking for all the components required to get myself on the road and towing. I know I want the least visible set up installed on the jeep. So far ive chosen the Roadmaster Nighthawk 676 tow bar and the Roadmaster base plate kit RM-521453-5. I believe these are compatible with eachother and will work on the Wrangler JL. Im trying to determine the braking system and signal/brake/marker lights connections. Id like the lowest profile, least visible set up. Im thinking about the Blue Ox Patriot braking. Are there any other recommendations, keeping in mind low visibility clean look of the systems after install? Thanks

For your 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL Sahara Unlimited, the Roadmaster EZ5 Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # RM-521453-5 is a great start. It is compatible with the Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar w/ LED Lights # RM-676 which comes with the wiring and the safety cables. This tow bar also comes with the 6-way for a clean wiring connection.

For your vehicle wiring to that 6-way, I recommend the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-152 which will allow you to utilize your factory wiring while protecting the vehicle electronics from back-feed and overload. Then I recommend the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25 to maintain your Jeep battery while towing. This will make sure your supplemental braking system doesn't drain your battery.

The Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System - Proportional # BLU37TR is a great system but it isn't the cleanest and least visible. If you want that, I recommend the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 which after installation becomes a plug and play system that is completely out of the way. You will need the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751490 to make sure the Motorhome system knows when your Jeep brakes are being applied.

Finally, you will need a high-low adapter. To ensure the correct fit, I've attached an article to help and have linked the page to all your options. Because you have never towed before, I've also attached an article to assist with the overview.

You may want to consider the Roadmaster Tow Bar Cover # RM-055-3 for tow bar protection when not in use and the Roadmaster Tow Defender Protective Screening # RM-4750 to keep debris from hitting your Jeep. These considerations are not essential to towing like the other products.
