Wall Thickness and Outer Tube Dimension for Curt Solid Steel Hitch Bar # C49524
Published 10/26/2018 >
Question:
Im a little confused on the outer dimensions on the 1-1/4inch hitch bar. A previously answered question says the wall thickness is .221 inches. If the inner dimension is 1-1/4inch then that would make the outer dimension 1.69 in 1.25 +0.221 + 0.221 or 1-11/16. But the video states the outer dimension is 1-5/16 inches 1.31 in or only a wall thickness of 1/32 of an inch which is extremely thin for this application. Can you please clarify the outer dimensions?

I went out to our warehouse to take some measurements of the Curt Solid Steel Hitch Bar # C49524 with a digital caliper.
I measured a wall thickness of 0.162 inches and an outer dimension on the tube of 1.58 inches. Keep in mind that minor manufacturing variances means that a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening is rarely ever exactly 1-1/4 inches. You can be confident though that it will work perfectly with any 1-1/4 inch hitch-mounted accessory.
