This is a well built hitch receiver. I had it professionally installed on my Ford Focus ST and am very happy with the product. Installation was done in about an hour. My bike rack was hit by a car and damaged the bike rack but the hitch receiver had zero damage. Looked as good as new. Highly recommend. etrailer delivery was fast and the prices are unbeaten.
Very good product. Installation is a bit of a project, but not too bad. I did add spacers of 1/8" Al stock matching the bolt pattern as another reviewer suggested to make lower the hitch to avoid bumper a little better, and another set to lower exhaust hangers a bit to clear my AWE exhaust tips. Worked like a charm. Running the power cable for the wiring to the battery was probably harder to do (without a lift). For the Focus ST, you want a drawbar like #36061 if you have big exhaust tips.
High quality. I love how invisible it is. Installation is basically impossible by yourself so find a friend to help. I’ve installed a few receivers in my day and this was the hardest one as it requires drilling and pulling the bolts/washers through the frame is not easy but doable if you’re not afraid of a challenge and have some patience. I would highly recommend for any ST owners who want to mount a bike rack.
I've had this hitch on 2 different Ford Focus ST. The 2017 and the 2014 model. I have made multiple trips close to 1000 miles long with a trailer and motorcycles on the back. This hitch has held up no problem and has done a fantastic job of pulling the trailer with no issues.
Didn't want to make the review until I thoroughly tested it out and I can say after 1,600 miles hauling my motorcycle behind my Focus ST without a problem definitely made me trust this hitch receiver! Quality setup and was easy to install!
This hitch fits pretty well given the space limitations of the center exit exhaust. The spacers move the exhaust tips down a bit but it isn't extreme and doesn't look weird. There is ample room to drill the holes. I did not grind the hole in the frame to install the rear most bolts. I took a hand file and filed off a little of the side of the bolt to get it to fit in the existing hole. It doesn't take much and shouldn't reduce the strength of the bolt. I preferred this to grinding the body. Also, having an extra set of hands is very helpful. Trying to raise the hitch up to mark for the drill holes while snaking it around the exhaust tips would be much harder working alone. Overall I am pleased with the fitment.
Excellent hitch for my Focus ST. Not too hard to install and fitment is pretty good. I have the aftermarket MBRP cat-back exhaust so the tips would not fit without rattling. I had to flip them upside down because the clamping bolts were on top rattling against the hitch. Works great now. Otherwise fit and finish is great for the price.
Great hitch and instructions (read carefully). The hitch is barely noticeable once installed. The included "fishing wire" is critical!
Well constructed, fit my car perfectly. Clear instructions. Holding up well after a year of use. Very happy with purchase.
Works on 2018 Focus ST with Ford Performance Exhaust. Install was easy and the hitch does not rub the rear bumper although it is very close.
This hitch is amazing! I was surprised to find a hitch for the Focus ST that could accommodate the stock center-outlet exhaust. Curt did it brilliantly. Installation went well following the good detailed instructions. The instruction illustrations were in black and white and were a bit difficult to see, but online versions show better color photos if needed. The fish wires provided to pull the new attachment bolts through the frame worked brilliantly. I didn't need to use the included spacers to lower my exhaust outlets beyond the amount they dropped by inserting the hitch mounting surfaces on the frame. The result is a nearly invisible hitch that is still easy to access when needed. I LOVE it!
Got it installed the other day, very clear and easy to follow instructions. Only took me about a half an hour to get it installed!
easy install, holding up after a year.
got the 2014 ford focus st model for my se model for better ground clearecne, just had to trim a hole in plastic bumper.
Good Quality, Good directions, fit well, shipped fast
Quality hitch but a bit of a struggle to install by myself. Only one I could find for the Focus ST. Works great.
This hitch reciever was the perfect solution for my needs, and I couldn't be happier. I would gladly purchase this again
Fits my Focus ST perfectly. Unobtrusive, but fully functional. A mite challenging to put the pin in, but better than having everything hanging lower.
If you drive a Ford Focus ST, this is the only hitch you should consider. Is it a bit tricky to install? Sure, but just set aside 2 hours, make sure you have a good drill and fairly new set of bits as the biggest diameter drill bit will get a workout.
For this work you get a through instructions and a very discrete hitch that's perfect for bike racks or whatever you need. Would buy again.
Great for what I needed it for, hides away nicely behind exhaust pipes. I did have a hard time getting certain receiver adapters to fit with the available clearance I had between the receiver and the underside of the bumper. I also ran into an issue with contact between the muffler and receiver (rattling as a result), but that was resolved with stiffer exhaust hangers and adjusting the orientation of the receiver. Overall would recommend this to anyone that is looking for a discrete yet fully functional receiver.
5 stars. everything fits perfectly, the design flows with the car and is nicely hidden. install wasn’t too bad but you’ll want a helping hand. i have a cobb exhaust for reference, the spacer gives room for everything to not touch/scrape
It's a great hitch. A few niggles, really close to the bumper cover, and the exhaust is lower than it could be. Curt should modify the design slightly to provide more clearance. I can live with the niggles without any issue though.
Installing the wiring actually takes longer than the hitch install, that is if one cares to make it a tidy and hidden installation of the harness.
Came super quick no issues at all
I have been watching videos on how to install this hitch and see that the hitch comes in contact with the bottom bumper of the car. Is there any way to fix this?

I contacted the manufacturer and Curt says they redesigned the hitch to another 1/4 of an inch so it does not rub the bumper. It should not touch the bumper with the new design. If it does touch the bumper it will be minimal and easy to flex up a bit or trim a 1/4 of an inch so that it doesnt touch.
So I installed this and immediately drove across country with a 2,000 lb trailer. Worked great with no issues. I would recommend using a dremel to cut some of the holes wider on install. It's now been over a year and the hitch is still on there.
Im not thrilled, the bolt holes line up, and the instructions are good, the product is solid, but I need to cut out plastic on the rear to make it fit. I also have to crawl basically under the car to hook up chains. I attached a photo before I cut showing the big area I’ll need to clear. Basically the entire hitch is behind the rear plastic. The shipping box was torn and the hitch was out of the box. It’s just cosmetic damage to the hitch but still did not feel great. I have yet to tow, but I’m sure that will be fine. Overall not impressed but will work.

Hey Trever. Before you cut into your bumper, I want to confirm the model of your vehicle. This hitch is for the Hatchback ST model. The ST model usually has the exhaust center of the bumper so the hitch would sit above it. We do have other hitches that would sit lower but I need to confirm what model your Focus is to make sure.
