Question:

Have a 2018 Ram 3500 with the long bed and factory pucks. Looking at your hitches and trying to decide between a Curt and Reese. Do you have a recommendation?

Curt and Reese both make exceptional 5th wheel hitches and you really wouldn't go wrong with a hitch from either of these manufacturers. Since you have the factory puck system I recommend first narrowing down your options to hitches that will mount directly to the pucks so that you don't have to mess with a separate adapter piece.

Reese has one such unit with the OEM 5th Wheel Hitch # RP30918. This is a really nice hitch that features a forged single-piece jaw for a secure connection with the trailer, a 9 inch wide funnel to allow for easier hookup, and a 20,000 pound towing capacity. This jaw design is a bit of an upgrade over those used on the Curt models.

If you are wanting a hitch with a higher capacity though I recommend going with the Curt Q25 5th Wheel Hitch # C16049. This hitch has a robust 24,000 pound towing weight capacity and a 2-jaw locking system. One improvement over the Reese hitches is the unique spherical axial bearing that allows for 360-degree movement on the hitch head. This allows for even easier hookup with the trailer while its built-in cushioning will also absorb road shock to provide a smoother ride. I also really like the 3-point indicator system that is on the Curt hitches that uses color codes to give you a clear indication of when you are securely hooked up to the trailer or when it's ready to uncouple.

I have attached a short video demonstration for each of these hitches that you can also check out.
