5th Wheel Hitch for a 2020 Ram 2500 w/ Prep Package to Use a Sidewinder Pin Box

Question:

I bought a new to me 2020 ram 2500 shortbed. I have a sidewinder kingpin coming off the trailer. The truck came with a mopar 20000 hitch, which is not compatible with the sidewinder I understand no wedge. I need to replace the hitch with one that will slide into the OEM set up on my dodge and replace the mopar night. Trailer is cougar 1/2 ton, 32 ft, 8600 empty. plug and play as possible, please. or even better a wedge that fits what I have.

Curt manufacturers the Mopar hitches. The Mopar 20,000 lb. hitch is essentially the Curt Q20 5th wheel hitch, which is not compatible with rotating pin boxes like a sidewinder. The reason for this doesn't have to do with a wedge, the head on the Q20 hitches can not support the torque put on it from the sidewinder.

You can use the Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package - Single Jaw - 20,000 lbs # RP30918 which will fit into your OEM prep package and is compatible with your sidewinder pin box. You would then use the Sidewinder Wedge # RP44FR to prevent the king pin from rotating in your hitch.
