Question:
My 2003 Highlander looks like it wont accept a T-one wiring harness except if I cut and splice. Can you provide some guidance if Im not looking for the plug in the right place?

I would be glad to help you out with adding trailer wiring to your 2003 Toyota Highlander. The Tow Ready Harness, # 118413, is designed to plug in line with the tail light wiring behind each tail light on the vehicle. Inside the rear cargo area, behind the tail lights, there are access panels that allow you to get to the tail light wiring connectors.
All you have to do is unplug them and plug in the connectors on the wiring harness in line with the vehicle wiring. Ground the white wire and mount the converter box and that completes installation. I have included a link to the installation details which contains pictures that show you the connection points.
If your Highlander came with a factory tow package, you can use the Tow Ready Harness, # 118245. This harness plugs into a different location. It can be found behind the rear bumper or in a plastic covered box at the rear of the vehicle. We have pictures on the product page that show what the box will look like if present on the vehicle. I have included a link to the installation details for this harness as well.
