Question:

I have a 2003 Highlander without factory tow wiring it does have the draw bar. My question is whether I need to bother with this kit, running the power wire to the battery, or if I can just get the back portion that clips in between the taillight plugs and has the trailer connector. If it matters, I intend to tow a smallish trailer, which probably has fairly basic and standard lighting. Thank you!

For a 2003 Toyota Highlander without the factory tow package you can use T-connector # 118413. It does not require a connection to the vehicle battery. I have included a link to the instructions and a link to a video showing a typical installation for you.
