How far below the factory hitch does this set? Or how much ground clearance will I lose on my 2008 3500 Dodge?

The Curt Hitch # C15809 that fits on your 2008 Dodge Ram 3500 sits directly below the factory hitch, as you can see in this photo a customer provided of his hitch installed on a 3500.
Though we have not test fit this hitch on an '08 Ram 3500, we have fit them on similar model years and found there is - approximately - less than 18 inches from the ground to the bottom of the hitch. I would not be able to confirm that exact distance on your truck but that should give you a general idea of the amount of clearance you'd have.
