Question:
Before ordering tow hitch and wiring Id like some idea if the 2008 instructions are virtually identical. The car in question is a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS without towing prep. In checking below rear end. driver side I found a harness with two connectors. Are these the connecters used to tie into the 4-way plugs and lights, or do they include wiring for a 7 pin plug, namely a line to the battery and/or brake controller connector near the brake pedal. In other words does my GLS have the factory tow prep wiring in spite of the manual stating that that it is not included unless its a an SE or Limited Santa Fe. Your answer will determine what has to be ordered.

If your 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe does not have the tow package from the factory, you would need wiring harness # 118415. To be absolutely sure on whether or not the vehicle is so equipped, have the dealer run the VIN. They will be able to tell you what equipment it has with that information.
As far as I have been able to find, the 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe, any model, was not equipped with a 7-Way. In order to add one, it would be a hardwire situation that would include adding a 4-Way first and then a 4 and 7 Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7.
I have included a link to the installation details for the wiring harness, # 118415, for the 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe. I have also included links to an FAQ and video that explain the installation of an ETBC7 kit should you decide to add one.
If you need a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha P2, # 90885. It is one of our best selling brake controllers because it is easy to set up and easy to use. I have included a link to the installation details for it as well.
