At What Age Should Trailer Tires get Replaced
Updated 06/18/2018 | Published 06/15/2018 >
Question:
Regarding date code. How oldinch is too old. It is now June 15th or week 24 or 2018, can I expect to receive tires manufactured at the end of 2017... the 1st week of 2018... 5th week? 6th week? 12th week? Is it common to received tires that have been lying around? Thanks,

Expert Reply:
Trailer tires should be replaced about every 6 or 7 years, even if the tread is still in good shape. As tires age, they can crack and dry rot. Continuing to use the existing tires would be dangerous. We go through tires quickly enough that you wouldn't recieve any that were laying around for any length of time. Also our warehouse is really good at rotating stock so that nothing gets forgotten for extended periods of time.
