1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at this Kenda Karrier ST145/R12 load range E S-trail radial trailer tire with this 12-inch aluminium wheel. This tire and wheel assembly is ideal for your trailer. This special trailer tire, or ST-tire is designed just for trailers and it does feature double steel belts and full nylon plies for superior function and long life. The computer-generated tread design that you see here and premium rubber compound materials are gonna give you superior traction in wet or dry conditions. And as I mentioned and as we have stamped here on our tire, this is an ST145/R12.
The section width is 5.8 inches and then the outer diameter when fully inflated is 21.4 inches. This is a load range E tire, meaning it has a 10-ply rating. The maximum load is 1,520 pounds at 80 PSI. And this has a speed rating of M, indicating the maximum speed of 81 miles per hour. Now, this wheel here, this is a gun metal aluminium, AM02 series wheel.
So it's durable, it's lightweight, it's rustproof. It can be used for trailers that are around water quite a bit. This features a clear coat finish on the front and on the back that's gonna protect it from scuffs and scratches. This features a split spoke design with a machine face, so it's a very attractive tire and wheel assembly. And this also features steel inserts in the lug nut wells that are gonna help keep the wheel securely in place on your trailer hub, preventing the holes from wearing down, and eliminating the need for you to constantly re-tighten the lug nuts.
Now, the dimensions of our wheel, measuring the diameter first, measuring bead seat to bead seat, and that's where the tire actually meets the wheel, it's gonna be 12 inches in diameter. And then the width of our wheel is four inches. And then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4.5 inches. And in case you don't know, the first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes, but the second number is the diameter in inches of the circle on which the bolt holes sit. So to determine the bolt circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes as we have here, you simply measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first.
The wheel capacity is 1,520 pounds. The wheel stud size is 1/2 an inch by 20. The center cap is sold separately. But if you decide to pick one up, you just wanna make sure that it fits a pilot diameter of 3.19 inches. And this tire and wheel assembly does meet the Department of Transportation specifications. Right out of the box, mark me impressed. These really made my Sea-Doo trailer look finished. They are not much more than the steel spoke wheels with the same tires.
Quality look and feel. Replaced 4.80x12 bias with 145 R12’s. Glad I did and they look great on the jet ski trailer.

Wheels look great. Center hub covers and stainless steel cap lug nuts would look great but I painted my hubs black carefully using the carryover standard lug nuts and the wheels look fine. It’s a trailer. I do wish they had come balanced. Plenty of “experts” say it’s not necessary to balance trailer wheels. This engineer says that’s nonsense. Balanced tires wear better and the trailer suspension and other components will last longer if you balance the wheels. Just because you can’t feel the shake in the seat of your pants doesn’t mean it’s not happening. Overall, a nice wheel in The package and I would buy it again.

Wheels look great, appear to be good quality, and were delivered fast and packaged well! Definitely a nice upgrade to our camper.
The only thing I would recommend is that you determine if the lug nuts and wrench you are currently using will work with this wheel. The lugs that were used on my old set are a typical (shallow) lug nut. The lug hole openings on these wheels are fairly narrow and my lug wrench was too large for the opening.
I ended up using a ‘DORMAN Spline-Drive Wheel Lock Kit’ (711-255) that had a very narrow ‘key’ socket and fairly long chrome lugs. The ‘key’ socket slips over the lug and then you can use your lug wrench. Just be sure to keep everything lined up and you torque the lugs with equal and straight alignment. I’ve heard the ‘key’ could be sheared if not used properly. That said, this worked very well for my setup and the key seemed like it was good quality as well. I’ll just need to make sure the ‘key’ socket stays in the camper with the lug wrench. If not, you’re kind of stuck.
And, the wheels ended up looking great with the chrome lugs! I added a few photos that may help with the lug nut scenario.

It is a pleasure doing business with e-trailer. I am a return customer. I bought a tire and rim for my boat trailer as a spare, super reasonable. Only issue is it is so much better than what came with the trailer, I am getting another and will replace the two on the trailer.
Would rate higher but the stickers you put on the tires didn’t come off cleanly. Had to spend 40 minutes peeling and knifing the stickers off. At least put them on the inside of the tire so no one sees it since they don’t feel off without leaving nasty residue.
