When you’re logging serious miles, heat and load can take a toll. The Karrier S-Trail radial tire handles it with a 10-ply construction and a 1,520-lb maximum load at 80 psi. Rated for 81 mph (speed rating M) and built with double steel belts and full nylon piles, it’s ready for long-distance reliability. The computer-generated tread design and premium rubber compound provide solid traction in wet or dry conditions, so the ride stays steady mile after mile.
Nothing’s worse than chasing loose lug nuts or dealing with worn holes. This 12" diameter x 4" wide aluminum wheel uses steel inserts in the lug nut wells to keep everything secure on the hub and prevent wear over time. The 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern, 0 offset, and 3.19" pilot diameter make for a precise fit that stays tight trip after trip.
Corrosion can ruin a good wheel fast, especially in wet or salty environments. The gunmetal aluminum AM01 series wheel is both durable and rustproof, with a clear coat finish on the front and back to guard against scuffs and scratches. It’s made to keep its shine while standing up to the elements season after season.
No extra mounting or prep needed—this is a true tire-and-wheel assembly designed for immediate use. Both components meet DOT specifications and come paired for balanced performance. With matching load capacity of 1,520 lbs per wheel, you get strength, safety, and convenience from the start.
Kenda backs this setup with a 1-year worry-free guarantee on the tire—if it’s damaged in any way during the first 12 months, it’ll be replaced at no charge. Combined with a 2-year limited warranty on the wheel, that’s real assurance whether you’re rolling across town or across state lines.

1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Hello everybody, this is jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Kenda Karrier ST145 R12 S-Trail radial trailer tire in a load range E and it's mounted on this 12-inch gunmetal aluminum trailer wheel with the 5 on 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now this tire and wheel assembly's ideal for stock trailers, utility trailers, campers. The wheel is a gunmetal five spoke aluminum AM01 series wheel. If you notice, has a nice machined face on it and it's very durable, lightweight, and rust proof. They do use a clear coat finish on the front and even on the back of the wheel, protects from scuffs and scratches.
Now one of the nice features I like on this wheel is they use steel inserts where the lug nut wells are, and that's designed to help keep the wheel securely in place on your trailer hub. Basically when you go to put this up on your hub, you put it over the wheel bolts, put your lug nuts on, when you torque 'em down, those steel inserts prevent those holes from elongating or wearing down, so it helps eliminate the need for constant re-tightening of the lug nuts. Few dimensions on this, the wheel diameter is 12 inches, width on just the wheels four inches wide. Now the bolt pattern on this wheel is a 5 on 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern. And if you wanna measure that on a wheel, it's an odd number of lugs, like in this case, five.
What you have to do is pick any hole, let's say this one, and then you're gonna measure from that hole directly across to either one of these holes. But the trick is you measure from the center of the starting hole to the furthest edge of the hole that you measure to. So on this one it'll measure 4 1/2 inches. So that means it's a five lug, 4 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now the wheel lug size that's used on this is 1/2 inch by 20.
The weight capacity on just the wheel is 1,520 pounds. Now if you notice this wheel does not have a center cap, we do sell those separately. If you do want one, you just need to make sure you get one that has the same diameter as this pilot hole right here and that would measure 3.19 inches. The tire on this is a Kenda Karrier S-Trail radial tire, does have double steel belts, full nylon flies, and they combine for superior function and long life. The tread on it is a computer-generated tread design and they use premium rubber compound materials that gives you superior traction in wet or dry conditions.
The tire is an ST, which is a special trailer tire, has sturdy sidewalls so they can handle heavy loads and it is created specifically for trailers. It's not intended for use on other vehicles. The tire size, which will be stamped on the sidewall, ST for Special trailer 145 R12. R means that it is a radial tire, section width 5.8 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's in flight, it's 21.4, and this tire is at load range E, which means it's a 10-ply rated tire, so it has a maximum load of 1,520 pounds at 80 PSI. And the last thing I do wanna mention, trailer tires now do put a speed rating on it and it's with a letter designation on the sidewall. And where you'll find that is right down here along the wheel where the tire size is listed. Right after it you'll see a number and then a letter M. Speed rating M means this has an 81 mile-per-hour speed rating and this tire and wheel assembly does meet the Department of Transportation specifications. But that's gonna do it for a look at the Kenda Karrier ST 145 R12 S-Trail radial trailer tire in a load range E mounted on this 12 inch gunmetal aluminum trailer wheel.

Replaced 2 year old tires. Perfect fit and made the trailer ride so much smoother. It was a VERY noticeable improvement and now I can travel at highway speed. Great look too!

I always use etrailers when needing trailer products.
Knowledgeable staff, fast shipping, great quality products and follow up customer service and support. What’s better than that? No risk purchase, these guys are professionals. Thanks again, my trailer looks great !!
Tires were the perfect. Cannot say enough good things about Carter, he was such a huge help in getting the correct tire. Will definitely come back to Etrailer for my trailer needs. Thank you.
Right out of the box, mark me impressed. These really made my Sea-Doo trailer look finished. They are not much more than the steel spoke wheels with the same tires.
Quality look and feel. Replaced 4.80x12 bias with 145 R12’s. Glad I did and they look great on the jet ski trailer.
Initially I had purchased two new tire & wheels for my kayak trailer and was so impressed that I purchased another one for the spare. Professional service and expedited shipping. Pleased with my purchases !! Thanks again.
Wheels look great. Center hub covers and stainless steel cap lug nuts would look great but I painted my hubs black carefully using the carryover standard lug nuts and the wheels look fine. It’s a trailer. I do wish they had come balanced. Plenty of “experts” say it’s not necessary to balance trailer wheels. This engineer says that’s nonsense. Balanced tires wear better and the trailer suspension and other components will last longer if you balance the wheels. Just because you can’t feel the shake in the seat of your pants doesn’t mean it’s not happening. Overall, a nice wheel in The package and I would buy it again.
Super easy to work with etrailer and find the right tire for our tow dolly. Great communication and updates throughout.
Outstanding customer service. My original order wasn’t in stock. I called Carter P recommended these wheels and tires. The package was sent out immediately and received 2 days early. The wheels look great. I drove over 400 miles on them so far and they’ve preformed great. Very pleased with this purchase. Thank you Carter and etrailer for a wonderful experience.
Wheels look great, appear to be good quality, and were delivered fast and packaged well! Definitely a nice upgrade to our camper.
The only thing I would recommend is that you determine if the lug nuts and wrench you are currently using will work with this wheel. The lugs that were used on my old set are a typical (shallow) lug nut. The lug hole openings on these wheels are fairly narrow and my lug wrench was too large for the opening.
I ended up using a ‘DORMAN Spline-Drive Wheel Lock Kit’ (711-255) that had a very narrow ‘key’ socket and fairly long chrome lugs. The ‘key’ socket slips over the lug and then you can use your lug wrench. Just be sure to keep everything lined up and you torque the lugs with equal and straight alignment. I’ve heard the ‘key’ could be sheared if not used properly. That said, this worked very well for my setup and the key seemed like it was good quality as well. I’ll just need to make sure the ‘key’ socket stays in the camper with the lug wrench. If not, you’re kind of stuck.
And, the wheels ended up looking great with the chrome lugs! I added a few photos that may help with the lug nut scenario.
Perfect fit! Look great! Made my boat trailer look and ride so much better. Highly recommended for the price!
As always the documentation of products is excellent, both written and video. Ordering is extremely simple and shipping was quick and on time. The packaging was robust but easy to handle and of course I received exactly what I expected. I did want to confirm the proper lug nut torque and I received an answer via a chat session within minutes. Etrailer has an "A" game that always executes when I shop and order.
Items came as described and in excellent condition. And the wheels look great on my trailer. Very happy with purchase!!
Wheels look great on my trailer. I placed the order over the phone. The lady was super helpful sending me links to the pictures and choosing the right tire size and model. I think this is a great upgrade to my trailer.
The tire showed up on time
Very fast delivery. Always reliable when ordering you get what is stated in the description.
For an import, the quality, fit and finish are quite good!
Nice wheels and tire upgrade. I really needed radials but the wheels look so nice and give my trailer a more refined look. Gona order one more for spare
