Troubleshooting Replacement Lippert Jack Operating in Opposite Direction
Updated 06/15/2018 | Published 06/13/2018 >
Question:
I just changed out a lippert stabilizer jack with a new one, the old one failed. I did not change the motor or wiring, left everything hooked up and bolted the motor up to the new jack, all wiring stayed the same did not change any electrical connections. Hit the extend button and the jack runs backwards, how can this be? I did not change any wiring just the screw jack system. I did not want to do any wiring do to the fact the under belly of the trailer is all closed in and unable to get to any wires. The easiest way to go was to use the old motor and wiring. Unbolt and bolt the motor back to the new system, simple right! Used the same jack system as before, the one with the yellow support brackets.

Expert Reply:
Although you wired up the new Lippert jack the same was as the failed unit, the fact that the jack is operating in the opposite direction from what you are pushing on the switch does indicate that the wiring leads are somehow reversed. Swapping the positions of the wires to the motor on your system should resolve this issue so that the stabilizer jack starts working correctly again.
Please just let me know if you have any further issues and I wll be happy to do some more troubleshooting.
