Question:

I have a 2007 Trailmanor 2720SL that I would like to add a rear receiver hitch for the purpose of carrying 3 mountain/cruiser bikes. The frame measures 52inch wide on center so the C13702 will not work unless there is a way to cheat another 1. The C13703 hangs lower and weighs about 50 pounds more. Are there other low profile hitch options for a 52inch wide frame? I considered a ball mount bike rack, but the tongue weight is already near the max I can handle. An A frame mount is not practical due to the telescoping nature of a Trailmanor when it opens up, What is your recommendation for hauling bikes on the Trailmanor?

The best option to add a trailer hitch to your 2007 Trailmanor 2720SL with a is either the Curt # 13703, which works on box frames, C-channel frames, or I-beam frames.

There is also the Ultra-Fab # UF35-946403 which welds onto I-beam, C-channel or rectangular trailer frames, but note that a gusset may be needed to weld onto I-beam frames and a plate may be needed to weld onto a C-channel frame, which is why the Curt is a better option overall.

In terms of a bike rack, there is a 3-bike rack available, the Swagman # S64152-2, though it does have a 35 lbs per bike weight limit. There are no 3- or 4-bike racks which can hold more than 35 lbs so if your cruiser or mountain bikes weigh more than that the only option would be a 2-bike rack, the Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes Item # KU84FR, which has a 60 lb per bike weight capacity but is a wheel mount so would NOT work if your bikes have fenders.

Additionally, please note that when using a hanging rack like the Swagman # S64152-2 you'll need bike frame adapter bar # 64005 if your bike is dual-suspension, has a step-through frame or you want to carry a small children's bike. The bar will give those bikes a horizontal mounting point so they can be carried by the rack. Also, using the Curt # 13703 hitch is going to require the use of stabilizing strap # 18050 with all non-trailer accessories such as bike racks and cargo carriers in order to maintain the warranty.
