How to Determine If a 2015 Mazda CX-5 Has LED Tailights
Published 04/15/2018 >
Question:
What is the easiest or surest way to know if I need the wiring harness with or without LED tail lights? Im inclined to say without LED, but Im not entirely sure. I have a 2015 CX-5 Grand Touring with technology package, which does include HID headlamps but I dont know any specs on the tail lights. I cannot tell by looking. Are LED tail lights standard with this package on this year? From what I read, it seems maybe models 2015 may have LED in grand touring or as an option, but maybe not the 2015 model. This decision on which to use has prevented me from placing my hitch and wiring harness order for over a year now, please help me decide.

The best way to tell whether or not your 2015 Mazda CX-5 came with LED tailights would be to contact the manufacturer with your VIN. They would be able to tell you without a doubt whether or not your vehicle has LED taillights. The other way would be to remove the taillight housing and look at the actual bulbs themselves as LED bulbs look much different than halogen bulbs.
However, with that being said you do not need to know whether or not the vehicle has LED taillights to purchase a trailer wiring harness because the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118563 works with both. This is also the wiring harness I recommend for your vehicle as Tekonsha wiring products are the best in the industry. This harness is completely plug and play which means installation is very simple as you can see in the attached install video on a similar 2014 Mazda CX-5.
